BBGBC started as an outlet for women to get together for brunch in South Florida, but has become a movement of over 30,000 women of color around the world. Christina shares how and why she created the BBGBC, how she manages her time, and what she has learned on her journey.

Founder, Christina Duren birthed the Beautiful Brown Girls Brunch Club (BBGBC) in March of 2010. Christina noticed a void in the Miami community among women of color and wanted to create an outlet for women to get together and meet like-minded, professional, fun, and outgoing women. After moving from New York City to Miami, FL in Sept 2009, Christina truly missed the camaraderie among her friends back in New York and began brainstorming a way to meet new friends. BBGBC answers the question of how do I create genuine friendships among women of color?

A frequent visitor of Meetup.com while in NYC Christina ventured back to Meetup.com to create The Beautiful Brown Girls Brunch Club in Miami, FL. The concept was to create a monthly event that provided a fun social environment, minus the judgment or prudence. Since its launch in Miami, FL the Beautiful Brown Girls Brunch Club has grown to over 30,000+ members and over 3000 successful meetups as of 2018. BBGBC also branched out nationwide with its first group in Tokyo, Japan.

The Beautiful Brown Girls mission is to create unique and memorable experiences for women of color to foster a world that runs on love, inspiration, and acceptance.
